    History

PFC Corofil has become a generic name for passive firestopping materials. Trading since 1962, we have become a familiar and trusted brand for the the UK construction industry. A family run company for many years, PFC Corofil was acquired by Wolseley UK in April 2008 and placed within the Encon Group of companies, recognising the pedigree and quality of our products and technical expertise of our team. The Encon Group became independent from Wolseley UK in October 2011 following a management buy-out, retaining PFC Corofil and it's management team.

The business has developed over the years from manufacturing bespoke fire rated filler blocks and movement joints, branching out to offer coatings, sealants and intumescent firestopping products for service penetrations in fire compartments. A high profile success for the company has been the CF system for upgrading fire resistance and acoustic performance of existing timber floors. After the fire in Windsor Castle in 1992, a number of Royal Palaces have been protected with our CF system.

Over recent years, PFC Corofil has invested in cutting edge technology developing a new intumescent material which can be extruded or injection moulded into engineered components for pipe and cable management systems. In both the construction phase and in occupied buildings, fire barriers are constantly being damaged by the routing of new electrical, data and telecom cabling, through walls and floors. PFC Corofil has developed a unique range of cable firestop management systems to create cable transit points in the building’s fabric to reduce the risk of fire spread through cable runs.

Our products have been independently fire tested and are subject to a voluntary ongoing third party certificate scheme which defines the scope of use, carries out factory audits and random fire tests to ensure that the highest standards of production are maintained. PFC Corofil has increasingly taken a more holistic outlook with respect to all technical enquiries, highlighting the fire resistance, acoustic and air tightness properties of our products.

We have worked closely with architects and contractors on prestigious projects (e.g. National Conference Centre, Dublin) to examine our products performance and have been able to offer significant benefits in terms of value engineering. PFC Corofil responds to meet the demands of an ever changing construction industry. We aim to deliver top quality products at a competitive price, excellent customer service and most importantly, to give reassurance that the job is done correctly, first time.
