Installation Instructions
PFC Corofil Fire Stop Compound is used to seal service penetration openings against the spread of fire. When used in floor openings it is capable of taking light foot traffic e.g. For maintenance purposes.
- Remove all loose material from opening of fire barrier.
- Fit PFC Corofil permanent shuttering or temporary plywood or similar material.
- Add the Compound to clean water, and mix either by hand or with a power mixer.
- Keep dry and protect bag from impact damage.
- Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with water.
- Floor Openings
- Pouring: 1 bag of Compound to 12 litres water (2.5:1). Do not mix weaker than 2:1.
- Set the shuttering into the opening ensuring a tight fit so that once the required depth of Compound is installed it finishes flush with the floor slab/screed unless otherwise specified.
- Mix and pour Compound until the required thickness is achieved.
- Reinforcing requires 12mm dia. bars placed at a maximum of 200mm centres across the shortspan only. The bars may be either recessed into the surrounding structure by a minimum of 50mm on both sides or supported on an angle securely fixed to the structure, all positioned approximately 30 mm above the bottom surface of the compound to ensure adequate fire protection from below. Existing compound installations can be easily drilled or sawn to allow the provision of additional or replacement sercvices, and subsequently re-sealed. Recommended minimum clearance between services and surrounding strucutre - 50mm or hals the diameter, whichever is greater.
- Wall Openings
- Trowelling: 1 bag of Compound to 10 litres water (3:1). (Guide only. Varies with site conditions).
- Apply Compound as specified, see sketches a, b, or c.
- Trowel the Compound, starting at the base of the opening ensuring the correct thickness of material is installed. Work progressively towards the top of the opening until the barrier is complete. If shuttering panel is set at the centre repeat process on other side.
