CASE STUDY | North West Football Stadium

    13th February 2017

    • Project Start: December 2014
    • Project Completion: September 2016
    • Sub Contractor: SCS Group, Manchester
    • PFC Materials Specified: C144 Blocks and Strip, Fastight Coating, Fire Collars, Insulated Firesleeves, Cable Basket Sleeves

Adding to a roster of prestigious projects, PFC Corofil was delighted to be involved in the Phase 1 Stadium Expansion at the home of the North West's premier football club. The multimillion pound project, which consisted of 1.8 million bricks and blocks and over 5000 tonnes of steel, increased the stadium’s capacity to around 54,000 – making it one of the largest all-seater single stands in European football.

PFC Corofil worked with the project’s partitions sub contractor, SCS group, to provide technical advice to ensure the correct fire stopping solutions were specified at the head of wall and penetration seals. Making detailed assessments on site, PFC Corofil recommended and supplied a number of products to meet the project’s specific requirements, including C144 blocks and strip, coated panel system with collars, insulated firesleeves, cable basket sleeves and Fastight coating, to maintain partition acoustic requirements.

The result of PFC Corofil’s close involvement with the partitions sub contractor has been the provision of a bespoke passive fire protection solution which ensures complete peace of mind at this historic and much loved location.

“PFC Corofil supplied us on previous projects with linear gap seals and penetration seals. On this project we required a specific detail for the penetrations and had no hesitation in contacting PFC Corofil to help provide us with this. As usual they were very helpful and responded quickly.” Andrew Crichton, SCS
